I've been here before....and with the saunas out there, and hearing rumors, thought I'd check it out for myself. Its true....they renovated....looks great! I guess with the reno came younger guys. Didn't see many old fatties. The atmosphere really changed and the place was packed. Met a couple of really nice guys on Wednesday and more Saturday. Very pleased with how clean it is. I highly recommend checking it out.

This place might be popular during Spring and summer cuz the rooftop is pretty cool. However, the condition of the place is running down and pretty dirty. The fungus are everywhere, in the steam, sauna room, drinking fountain. The clients are bears, oldies, overweight, Bi Russians guys who have no considération toward other people. Once there is a big group of the Russian guys hanging out there, the entire place truned to be their private bathhouse. They speak very loud and take over the whole place. If you don't have a car, it's quite a long walk from Sherbrook station, Plus you don;t want to spend 14 CAD for dirty and filthy place. You might get skin disease after the visit. Trust me.

This is reportedly the oldest sauna in Montreal...guess what...it is. It looks old, frozen in the 40's . The staff is rude, the crowd is made up with closeted guys from eastern Europe and Arabs who exchange massages among themselves...and now and then a horny older guy who comes here because doesn't know about other saunas or because he's simply used to come to this place. It's far away from any Metro station so you'll have to take a bus or walk to get here, and the neighborhood looks really run down. Don't bother....

Colonial Baths has a mixed male clientel so you will feel comfortable just enjoying a steam and sauna or cruising another guy. So you can see middle aged Russian guys wearing shorts self-flagellating their backs with branches in the sauna to a college guy and everything in between. The steam room and sauna are proper hot, which many other saunas aren't. The decor is very clean and has a interesting dated character reflecting the bath's history. The staff are bilingual and very helpful, they will happily explain the sauna to you it you say its your first visit. I like the place and would happily recommend it to others.
