Mtl en Arts has made a name for itself as one of the summer’s major events in Quebec. This great outdoor symposium attracts hundreds of thousands of festival-goers in the Centre-Sud borough of Montreal, stimulating local and regional economy and bringing in new clientele.

Mtl en Arts is a large-scale international event targeting all Montrealers and tourists, and it is the largest open-air exhibition in Eastern Canada. It extends over a one-kilometre stretch of Montreal’s most famous commercial street, Ste-Catherine Street, now closed to traffic every summer. Visitors are given the opportunity to meet both established artists and emerging artists as they enjoy the friendly and cheerful atmosphere of this major artistic powwow.

The relaxed and non-elitist style of the event appeals to art lovers as much as to experts, and to an increasingly wide public. Taking place in Montreal’s unique environment and attended by more than 150,000 visitors every year, the festival allows a direct contact between the public, the artists and their art. Various mediums are represented, from studio arts to filmmaking, passing by performance art, sculpture and numeric art.

Mtl in Arts is a contemporary cultural event of his time meeting the expectations of all the generations. Thus this leading event coincides with the will of the whole Montreal cultural and political environment to make of the culture the springboard of the development of Montreal, multicultural city recognized for its friendliness and its creativity.
