Pinkwashing Israeli Occupation
QPIRG-Concordia, Suite 204, 1500 Boulevard de Maisonneuve O
The state of Israel spends millions of dollars annually to promote itself as an oasis of queer-friendliness in a desert of backwardness, deliberately erasing the ongoing violent occupation of Palestine. This presentation exposes the PR campaign targeted at LGBT people in the west to "pinkwash" the ongoing occupation of Palestine, and discusses the counter-arguments and tools available for queer and trans people to act in solidarity with the Palestinian struggle.

>>Body Care for Binder Wearers
This two-part workshop is for folks of all genders who bind regularly, occasionally, or are curious about binding. In part one, we will review and discuss research into binder-related health, community agreed upon best practices, and the impact of long term binding on the body with a harm reductive and gender affirming approach. Part two will introduce participants to general exercises that they can practice at home known to improve posture, breathing, and joint health. Participants are encouraged to bring their binders, but this is not required. In portions of the workshop, participants will have the option of practicing exercises without their binders, but this will not be required or forced. Everyone will leave with a resource guide on binding and a pamphlet of exercises practiced in the workshop. We are making an effort to provide free or cheap binders to participants and will update on the status of this service in the Facebook event. Please check the Facebook event for accessibility information!
>>Bondage and Saturn
The inevitability of the Saturn Return is the classic coming-of-age story. As queers, as creatures, as interdependents and co-creators, how do we work with Saturn's lessons of individual responsibility while holding onto the vulnerability and utopian visions that bring us together? When we don’t fit in normative Saturnine narratives of maturity and adulthood, how do we envision growing older together? While love, sex, desires, and dreams aren’t normal Saturnine terrain, when seeking to heal issues of attachment and abandonment, we need Saturn. We can rely on Saturn as teacher, as elder, as protector, but for those of us with identities disciplined by oppressive structures, Saturn is not always easy to trust.
Beginning with a personal narrative of the last few years of serious Saturn transits (including my Return), I want to explore how we can use Saturn to recognize, articulate, and transform some of our own stories and struggles. We’ll work on the Saturn signatures in our natal charts, learn how to track its movements, go through the phases, the cycle of major aspects, that place us within our own and shared histories. We’ll use the current Saturn retrograde period as a living example. A practicing astrologer since my chart was first read at age 12, I am a student of trauma and narrative. Astrology is one of the strongest tools I have found to connect with the narratives we write to survive. I take a queer intersectional feminist approach to Western psychological astrology with a focus on healing, power, trauma, and relationships. I’m a Virgo/Sag/Sag, ruled by a Jupiter in Aquarius, with a Cancer Venus in a heavy 8th house. While more of an educator than counselor, I am certified in Mental Health First Aid, and have training in crisis intervention. I endeavor to create supportive, open environments where participants can work individually or cooperatively at their own comfort level and creative pace. I will ask for volunteers to provide chart examples, but I will not call on you without prior consent. This isn't easy work, technically or emotionally, and there is no shame in being unable to dig too deep, especially in a couple hours. I will simply offer you tools, free online resources, you can use on your own when you need them. For those of you heading into your Saturn Returns, these tools can help you navigate your upcoming trials and victories.
Three-hour workshop. Limited to 30 participants. PWYC $3 - $30. Pre-registration is mandatory. Presented in English. Paper handouts. Transcription of my talk and my side of the conversation can be provided post-workshop. Register by sending your name, contact email, birth date/time/place (optional), and any relevant details you’d like to share, to kasterismos@gmail.com. Please contact me with any questions regarding accessibility, experience level, etc. Learn more about me and my practice at nineofwands.com
>>Angry White Men
Why are POC, women, or trans individuals consistently expected to shoulder the responsibility of educating, organizing, and emotional labour, while white, middle-class cis-males get leadership positions and credit? Directed at those with the greatest social privileges and power, this workshop will cover the theory and practice of how intersecting systems of oppression can be subverted, not by denying or ‘giving up’ privilege, but by using it in materially-beneficial ways for those without it. It is designed to dismantle power structures within and provide the tools to help challenge other white, hetero, and cis-male people to fight the growing tide of fascism, racism, xenophobia, and sexism. N.B.: This is not an introductory class on anti-oppression nor a carte blanche for white guilt and problematic behaviour; participants are expected to uphold the principles of safe(r) spaces and respect the dignity of all. Also note that the facilitator will be a white cis-male, all bodies are equally welcome and encouraged to attend the workshop.
>>Pinkwashing
Since the mid-2000s the state of Israel has sponsored efforts to promote itself as an oasis of liberal tolerance in a savage, backwards region. But barely an hour's drive away from gay-friendly Tel Aviv is a very different reality for the Palestinians that live under Israeli occupation: daily violence, humiliation, poverty, military checkpoints, arbitrary arrests, house demolitions, land theft, and a separation wall hundreds of miles long.
This presentation exposes the PR campaign targeted at LGBT people in the west to "pinkwash" the ongoing occupation of Palestine, and discusses the counter-arguments and tools available for queer and trans people to act in solidarity with the Palestinian struggle.

the underside of pride
Pervers/Cité est un festival queer radical collaboratif. Dans un climat de pinkwashing et d’homogénéïté blanche, Pervers/Cité se bat pour proposer des activités afin de réanimer la radicalité des Prides.
Pervers/Cité is a collaboratively organized radical queer summer festival. Since 2007, Pervers/Cité has been organizing a blend of hot dance parties, critical political interventions and alternative art practices to build links across social justice movements and queer communities. In a climate of corporate gay agendas and whitewashed homogeneity, Pervers/Cité strives to provide a schedule of activities to reanimate the radical underpinnings to the pride movement.

Land
Perverscité acknowledges that it takes place on stolen land, on the traditional territory of the Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk) Nation. The Kanien’kehá:ka are the keepers of the Eastern Door of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Confederacy. The island called “Montreal” is known as Tiohtià:ke in Kanien’kéha, and it has historically been a meeting place for other Indigenous nations, including the Anishinaabe peoples.
Territoire
