This closed workshop for those who identify as Two-Spirited and LGBTQ people of colour, indigenous folk, and racialized migrants will provide an overview of the Two-Spirited/LGBTQ Indigenous experience in North America, with a focus on the impact of settler colonialism and imperialism on attitudes towards sexual diversity within Native communities and the contemporary movement to raise awareness of and bring recognition to the important role Two-Spirited/LGBTQ Aboriginals have played in their respective nations. Discussion will then turn to ways that Two-Spirited/LGBTQ Indigenous and LGBTQ people of colour & racialized migrant communities can work together to build stronger ties and overcome the destructive legacies of settler colonialism and imperialism that still affect these communities today.
